1. The mixed rare earth obtained from the decomposition of brown yttrium niobium ore by extraction method contains 350% Y2Oand about 4% CeO2. The raw material is fed with the rare earth nitrate solution after the removal of cerium, and the yttrium-rich rare earth is extracted by the N263-LiO3 system. Thulium, ytterbium and lutetium were separated into organic phase by N263-heavy solvent extraction, and then thulium and ytterbium were separated into aqueous phase by oxalic acid precipitation, filtration and calcination to produce ytterbium oxide.
2. Yb3+ was separated from other rare-earth ions by solvent extraction, ion exchange or reduction method with Yb3+ enrichment as raw material. Then the ytterbium is precipitated out in the form of hydroxide, carbonate and oxalate with appropriate precipitant. By burning the hydroxide, carbonate, or oxalate, ytterbium oxide is obtained.
